E-Visa and Residency Verification

1. Purpose

To comply with our obligations under the Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017 and other applicable UK legislation, Tuma may verify a customer’s right to reside in the United Kingdom as part of its customer due diligence and risk assessment procedures.

2. When We Collect E-Visa Information

We may request your e-visa information if:

  • you do not hold a UK-issued identity document or residence permit; or
  • your residence permit has expired and you provide evidence of lawful residence through an e-visa or similar immigration document.

In these cases, you will be asked to submit your e-visa number, a photo of the e-visa, and your valid international passport.

4. Information Collected

The information we may collect includes your e-visa photograph, visa number, date of birth, nationality, visa category, issue and expiry dates, and any other information displayed on the document that is necessary to verify your lawful residence status.

5. Verification Process

Verification is performed manually by our compliance team using secure tools provided by our verification vendor. Your e-visa information may be compared with your international passport or other previously submitted or expired identification documents to confirm authenticity, liveness, and consistency of the data.

6. Use of Information

The e-visa information is used solely for:

  • confirming your right to reside in the United Kingdom;
  • meeting our anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorist-financing obligations; and
  • maintaining the accuracy and integrity of your customer record.

Tuma does not use your e-visa information for marketing, profiling, or any automated decision-making.

8. Storage and Security

All e-visa information is stored within our verification vendor’s encrypted environment under strict access controls. Only authorised compliance personnel may access this information for legitimate verification and audit purposes.

9. Retention

Your e-visa data will be retained for a period of five (5) years after the end of your relationship with Tuma, or as otherwise required by applicable law. Once this period expires, the data will be securely deleted or anonymised.

10. Consent and Acceptance

By agreeing to these Terms and Conditions, you acknowledge and consent that Tuma may collect, review, and verify your e-visa and related immigration information for regulatory compliance purposes, including comparison with previously submitted identification documents where necessary to validate your identity and residency status.

11. Data Sharing and Transfers

Tuma does not share, sell, or transfer your e-visa or residency data to any third party or entity outside the United Kingdom. All data remains securely processed and stored within the UK in compliance with data-protection regulations.

12. Your Rights

You retain all rights under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018, including the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal and regulatory limitations.
